How luxurious and large would your home be if you had hundreds of billions of dollars to your name? How many would you have? For most people, the answers would be 'very large' and 'as many as I want.' However, for Elon Musk, the world's richest man, that is surprisingly not the case.

Musk lives on SpaceX's property in Texas, where he has quick and easy access to his workplace. He used to have homes worthy of his financial status until he decided to do away with them.

Boxabl is a startup that seeks to solve housing problems by manufacturing and selling low-cost homes that take a few hours to set up. Never in their wildest dream would Boxabl's father-son founders imagine that the world's richest man would live in their product.
Musk lives in the Casita model, offering a living area, space for a bed, an open kitchen, and a bathroom. Other amenities include a washing machine and refrigerator.

Why Does Musk Live This Way?
While downgrading to a $50,000 home from multi-million dollar mansions is not insignificant, Musk has demonstrated his preference for a non-ostentatious lifestyle.
For example, he is one of the few billionaires that don't own yachts or collect expensive items. His private jet is a necessity. Musk does not even accumulate exotic cars and even sent his Tesla Roadster to space.
However, Musk has two reasons for living in a $50,000 prefab home. The first is that he wants to live responsibly by reducing his energy consumption because his new home requires far less energy to run.
Secondly, Musk intends to dedicate all his resources, including time and money, to his dream to colonize Mars.
If you want a Boxabl home for yourself, you would have to join a queue because thanks to Musk's influence, the company has witnessed a massive spike in interest from the public.
